Jim writes mostly in the folk and folk-rock genres about a wide variety of topics.  He's a storyteller, advocate, humorist and dreamer. Jim tries to live out Franciscan ideals: raising awareness of social issues and confronting incidents of injustice. As a lyricist, Jim’s a word-man with an insight into people’s hearts and their situations in life.

 Jim’s musical and lyrical inspiration comes from a wide variety of singer-songwriters: Gordon Lightfoot, David Mallett, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Stan Rogers, John Gorka, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Prine, Tom T. Hall, Kenny Rogers, Tom Paxton, The Chad Mitchell Trio, James Taylor and Harry Chapin.

“His music may be easy listening, but his lyrics? Not always.”

— Sharon T.

(Of Jim’s album, Stayin’ Focused:)

“I loved the arrangements with the different instruments and the lyrics are very profound.  Impressive talent you have to be able to write songs like that — glad you shared them.”

— Brian W.

Our Family’s #1 Cause:

Shoulak BreastFest™ Music Festivals   {www.shoubf.com}

Jim’s wife Judy is a survivor of breast cancer. For 10 years, on the third Saturday in September, the family has hosted Shoulak BreastFest™ Music Festival on the grounds of their farm. The event’s purpose is to raise awareness, promote early detection, assist those who have been diagnosed with the disease and raise funds for breast cancer research — and a cure! In that decade, Shoulak BreastFest™ has raised over $425,000 at what they call their “little backyard festival.”
